Our fees for preparing a Bill of Costs and for appearing on assessment are as follows: 
 

• Time spent by a Partner - $440.00 per hour;

• Time spent by a Lawyer - $330.00 per hour; 

• Time spent by a Clerk - $110.00 per hour; and

• The value for drawing and engrossing the Bill of Costs determined by the number of words in the Bill of Costs at the following rates:

  • Drawing ​Bill of Costs - $22.00 per 100 words; and

  • Engrossing Bill of Costs - $5.90 per 100 words.

 

The above figures are inclusive of GST.

Rule 1734(1) of the Court Procedures Rules 2006 states:

 

          The costs of a proceeding include the costs of
          preparing a bill of costs and attending the
          assessment of costs.

 

Our costs to you will be embedded in the Bill of Costs itself and we strive to recover as much of those costs on assessment as possible pursuant to Rule 1734.

 

For advice on costs, and for Notices of Objection, we also charge at the above rates. Please note that these costs are generally not recoverable from the other party.

For binding mini-assessment we charge either 10% of the total of the determined value of the disputed costs on a time spent and draw and engross basis at the above rates.
